Piquant is a conceptual japanese resturant located in Paris, France. Piquant derives from the french word “piquer” which means to stimulate. In order to allow the food to pique visitors, the identity revolved around a sense of calmness and elegance to contrast the name.
The logo was greatly inspired by the organic strokes of calligraphy. To further echo the East meets West concept, a contemporary calligraphic typeface is paired with a Swiss san-serif typeface.
Drawing from traditional Japanese patterns, I took the circle from the logo to create a pattern.
